Welcome to the Team ANZAC
"Wrong Way Round"
Tour of Ireland!

Please be patient while the page loads - there are a lot of quite large photos.

Inspired by Ewan & Charlies "Long Way Round", Richard & I decided to spent a wonderful 10 days riding around Ireland on our BMW R1150GS motorcycles - here are some of the photos from the trip.

On the beach at Strand on the Dingle peninsular

Apparently this is the largest ferry in the world - and we had it pretty much to ourselves.
Great service and the bikes were treated with lots of respect.

This on the hills to the South of Dublin at the beginning of the trip as we head off into the Wicklow Mountains.

Great biking country!

On the journey at last - and no rain!

For the life of me I can't remember where this was. I think it might have been Enniscorthy heading down to Wexford.

The lighthouse at Hook Head.

And Richards turn! (note the "Wrong Way Round" logos on the bikes!)

Another of the numerous mountain passes that we made an effort to cross.

For the most part we tried to stay off red roads on the map and tend to follow the green ones.
The green routes have much less traffic and generally offered better (more fun) riding.
I wouldn't have wanted to do this trip on anything other than a GS though...

Looking across to Crookhaven at Mizen Head.

And again...

This is Mizen Head proper.

This is the Healy pass on the Beara peninsular - we enjoyed this so much we did it twice!

...and stopped to take loads of pics.

Richard bimbles around the corner...

...slowly followed by me!

It's a great road (mind the sheep though!).

This is heading up into the Ballaghbeama Gap.

And from the top...

The view was amazing!

This reminded me a lot of the South Island of my native New Zealand.

The roads were a laugh too!

Waiting for Godot Rupert.

Once we finally made it to the Dingle peninsular we met up with our friend Rupert who showed us around the place
and took us to a wonderful lunch at a little out of the way restaurant he knew. I could really start to enjoy this!

Rupert's mum then pointed us out to a place called "Strand" on the northern part of the Dingle peninsular where vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach itself.
Richard and I had a wonderful couple of hours tearing up and down and stopped to take heaps of photos.
And as you can see - it was really crowded!

Strike a pose...

and another...

These are getting tedious!

The trouble is - the scenery and bikes looked *SO* good together it was impossible to stop taking photos!

and then it was Richards turn...

Richard in a fresh water stream.

This one's a bit easier on the eyes.

Time for me to have a go.

What to say...

Okay here we go again...

and that was it - the "Wrong Way Round" tour.
10 days, 2,300 miles, 1 rainy day, no bike dramas and a lot of Guinness!
